Privacy Policy
Extract Text from Video – OCR (formerly Video to Markdown) converts text visible in a user-selected video into a Markdown document. This policy explains how the app handles that content.
Data collection
The developer does not collect personal data, analytics, advertising identifiers, videos, recognized text, or generated Markdown through the app. No account is required.
Videos and Photos access
You choose which video the app can access through Apple's system photo picker, file importer, or share sheet. The app does not browse or upload the rest of your photo library.
On-device processing
Video decoding, frame selection, optical character recognition, overlap removal, and Markdown generation run locally on your device. When supported and enabled, optional Markdown structure polishing uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework.
Local storage
Saved scans, recognized text, Markdown, and preview images are stored locally in the app's container. A video shared through the app extension is copied temporarily through an Apple app-group container so the main app can import it. You can remove app data by deleting saved scans or uninstalling the app.
Sharing and export
Copying, saving, or sharing Markdown is initiated by you. Content sent to another app or service is then governed by that recipient's privacy practices.
Optional ChatGPT feature
All video processing and text recognition happen entirely on your device. The app includes an optional "Ask ChatGPT" button. When you tap it, the app first shows a notice explaining that your scanned text (up to the first 12,000 characters) will be sent to ChatGPT, an AI service operated by OpenAI. Only after you confirm does the app open ChatGPT with that text; it is then handled under OpenAI's privacy policy. Nothing is ever sent automatically, and the developer never receives, stores, or transmits your videos or text.
